The new terminal is more than double the size from the previous station which outgrew its capacity. The location now provides more options for interstate, regional and local bus services, handling an average of 40,000 passengers daily.

The two-level concourse features ticketing, transit merchandise shops and bus services at the ground level. The open air underground level provides lightrail services. Surface parking and a Metro service center were also constructed. The facility was built to LEED Gold Standards using energy efficient and sustainable building methods. As part of the Metro’s public art program, a clock sculpture is suspended from a stainless steel arch by artist Donald Lipski.

“We are extremely grateful to KPRS for their professionalism, work ethic, and quality of construction. Metro is proud of our new station, and we know the community of El Monte is appreciative as well.”
